Gripped By Gambling
May 28
As you are reading this paragraph, someone you know may be embezzling money to support a gambling addiction. Drugs and alcohol are not the only addictions that destroy lives. Every day the newspaper and TV carry stories about the compulsive gambler who has committed a crime, committed suicide because of shame, or they are being locked up in a psyche ward. Some of the issues that led to the addiction that swallowed my life and spit it back out on the side of the road, were low self-esteem, lonliness, boredom, and death of a loved one. I have written a book which reveals valuable insights into the mind of compulsivity. If anyone has ever gambled to excess, anyone who’s ever had an addiction, and EVERY person who just doesn’t “get” addiction, I can help you understand the prloblem. Or perhaps you’ve asked the stupid question, “Why don’t they just stop?” Compulsive gambling is unlike alcoholism or drug addiction because there is nothing ingested into the body. The gambling addiction is a mental issue and is well hidden because the gambler doesn’t smell of alcohol or stagger. The gambling addiction is usually not recognized until the person has committed a crime.
